Some game areas are completely empty, as if the developers had not had time to finalize the work … The playing areas are linked together by corridors, unfortunately interspersed with many loading times. Its construction is reminiscent of the adventure games of the Nintendo 64 era. However, it will be necessary to close our eyes to many small flaws so as not to spoil its fun, because while Ary is a very pleasant adventure game to play, it is not free from flaws. Somewhere halfway between a platform game, an RPG and a beat them all, Exiin’s game stands out from other productions by its very colorful universe, reminiscent of that of animated films and its unique concept, the player here manipulating the seasons to progress in the adventure.Īry’s universe is full of charm. The first big budget project from Brussels studio Exiin takes the form of a Zelda-style adventure game, which mixes several styles of play. The whole concept of the game is based on the use of “season spheres”, which allow you to manipulate your environment. A description that suited Ary & Le Secret des Saisons perfectly.
The common denominator in most of its productions? An original concept which often goes hand in hand with a fantastic universe. Over the years, the publisher has signed some nice hits, from the Trine series to the most recent Rock of Ages 3.
Modus Games generally have a flair for unearthing small, unpretentious games that almost immediately land cult status. The childbirth was however painful, in the midst of a pandemic. The very ambitious first project of the Brussels studio Exiin, Ary & Le Secret des Saisons had been spotted very early on by the American publisher Modus.
